Lydia T. Johnson
Welcome to the digital footprint of Lyd the Global Educator
Hi there! My name is Lydia, and I am a current M.A. candidate in International Education Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
I am a budding international educator and ever-learning global citizen. I am a proud HBCU graduate (The Illustrious Howard University c/o 2019) with a professional interest in the intersections of youth development, international education, and diplomacy. I love traveling and exploring other cultures and have studied and worked abroad in
Havana, Cuba
Granada, Spain
Cape Town/Johannesburg, South Africa
Oaxaca, Mexico
Dakar, Senegal
Tokyo, Japan
Panama City, Panama
....and traveled to at least a dozen other countries (check out my gallery)!
My purpose in life is to educate, advocate for, and uplift, young Black and Brown learners globally. I consider education the most powerful tool we have access to, and every learner deserves a quality education that inspires and fosters their creativity, curiosity, and understanding of the world and their place in it.
I do not believe education should be condemned as radical -- there's nothing radical about calling for equitable, just, diverse, and honest learning, where all identities, perspectives, histories, and cultures are valued and included.
This website serves as a bit of a digital home base as I matriculate through my Master's program. I will use it to collect and share my milestone projects, professional and personal resources, and relevant updates to the best of my abilities.
Education is transformational, liberatory, and dynamic. In our knowledge, we are strengthened and united as a society.
I firmly believe every person on Earth is entitled to access to lifelong learning and quality education experiences, whether through "traditional schooling" or a completely new path.
I hope you enjoy exploring this website and joining me on this journey to my degree and beyond!
