About Me

My name is Lydia, and I consider myself a global citizen. I come from a family of educators -- my mother and grandmother were both teachers, my grandfather was a principal, and my uncles and cousin are all mentors and caregivers for teens and children.  My admiration for my family and the educators around me guided me into the field of international education. To educate and inspire others is, to me, one of the most meaningful things anyone could do with their life. I believe everyone deserves to have their capacity for learning fostered and encouraged the way mine was, and I want to be a home for others to grow and learn in, too.

What else? I graduated from Howard University in 2019, holding degrees in Political Sciences and Spanish. I'm a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a fourth-generation Legacy. I am a huge advocate for the value of Black and minority-led organizations and institutions in the field and the role they play in elevating Black and Brown voices in education. I love languages and dream of becoming a polyglot. For now, I'm semi-fluent in Spanish, and have studied French, Japanese, and Portuguese. I'll get there one day. I believe in the value servant-leadership and love the chance to volunteer, particularly at my mom's church. In my free time, I love cooking, reading horror comics, and playing Ace Attorney or Legend of Zelda on my Nintendo Switch. :)
